DOMMIN
The LA rockers are readying themselves for greatness and set their sights on rocking you!
"Being in a band wasn't really a decision I made, in that sense..." states Kristofer Dommin, vocalist, song writer and guitarist for alternative and gothic rock band DOMMIN. "I always just gravitated to playing music and hanging around others that play music" Kristofer continues, "Even if Dommin wasn't on a label, I'd still be doing it. I'd probably have other means of putting food on the table, but I'd still come home from whatever my job was and make Dommin music." With influences such as Depech Mode, KISS, Rammstein and The Doors, it's not hard to see where the Dark Rock sound came together. "We are certainly a rock band influenced by the early rock style of the 50's, to KISS and AC/DC. But the content of the music discusses perhaps the darker part of my life experiences so the music has a moody vibe to it." explains Dommin. "If you are into brutal metal with good songs, there is a band coming out called The Kill Corps that is amazing."
Starting their formation in 2000 with the final line up we have today finishing in 2008, the quartet hailing from L.A consist of Kristofer Dommin - vocals/guitar, Billy James - bass, Konstantine - keyboards, and Cameron Morris - drums. Having been together for an entire decade now, the bands progression has been a long awaited rise. "I think if anything, it's reinforced a lot of my own opinions. There are times when you can doubt yourself. And now that things are happening the way they are, it seems like I kinda knew what I was talking about. At the same time, it has really tested everyone's patience in the band because it has been very slow going. It's really tested everyone's dedication and I think everyone now realizes they are in this for the long haul."
Dommin are signed to one of the biggest labels in metal today, Roadrunner Records, with their debut album "Love Is Gone" which was released in February 2010. "This is our first real album and I've been extremely humbled by those who have really connected with this music. It sounds a bit weird to say, but it seems to have really changed our lives for the better. And I'm not sure I ever expected anything like that." proclaims Kristofer. Having invaded our shores here in the UK, playing main stage of one of the biggest festivals England has here today; Download, in June, Kristofer comments "It was an incredible honour to share the stage with such legends in rock and see what the festival experience was all about. The fans we've found in the UK have been some of the most supportive in the world. They feel like an extended family."
Dommin are doing a small tour in the US, supporting Volbeat in August, followed by a few headlining shows in and around that tour. Kick starting the New Year with a bang, the band are set to make their debut performance in Australia for the Soundwave Festival in February. Dommin are nominated for BEST INTERNATIONAL NEWCOMER for the Kerrang! Awards 2010. Visit the Kerrang! website to cast your vote.
